Vic: Mill fire robs town of jobs

MELBOURNE, Dec 16 AAP - A $1 million timber mill fire has robbed a tiny north eastern
Victorian town of its major source of work.

The small community of Murrindindi awoke this morning to a bleak future, after a suspicious
fire destroyed the mill, which employed 30 people.

Country Fire Authority (CFA) operations officer Peter Brereton said the blaze took
CFA crews more than two hours to control.

"The mill building itself which holds all the saws and conveyors and things like that,
and probably some stock has been destroyed," he told the ABC.

"The building itself has been gutted and (there is) severe damage to its external structure."
