A senior Country Liberal Party insider says Northern Territory Chief Minister SHANE STONE's
arrogance and bully-boy tactics are some of the main reasons for his fall from power.

Mr STONE resigned from the Territory's top job today citing his failure to persuade
Territorians to vote for statehood as the prime reason for his departure.

But the party insider, who doesn't want to be named, says the party started to turn against
Mr STONE when he made himself a QC after taking the post of attorney-general in 1997.
